Jocelyn KennedyJocelyn Kennedy is the Executive Director of the Harvard Law School Library, where she oversees the day to day operations and provides strategic leadership for the Library. Jocelyn is an expert in legal research, management, and working in complex organizations. She presents on topics related to management, mindfulness, and communication. She is a former clerk for the New Hampshire Trial Court, and worked for a US Congressman prior to attending law school. Jocelyn holds a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire, a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire-Franklin Pierce Law Center, and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Washington.

Kara MackResearch Services ManagerKara Mack is a legal industry expert in research products, the research process and research training. With over 18 years of experience in AM Law 100 law firms, Kara is responsible for Goodwin’s global team of research analysts, consults on research strategy, and is responsible for evaluating and implementing innovative technologies that improve the research process. Kara is an active member of the legal research community as a longtime member of the American Association of Law Libraries and as past Membership Chair and current Education Chair of the Association of Boston Law Librarians.

Jess BartonJudicial Law ClerkJess Barton is a judicial law clerk at the Massachusetts Appeals Court and will next serve as a judicial law clerk at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. As a judicial law clerk, Jess researches a wide variety of case law, secondary sources, and statutory law in order to assist her judge with preparing for oral arguments and writing opinions.
In law school, Jess worked with the Law Library Research Librarians as a research assistant, was a member of the Suffolk Law Review, and participated in the Indigenous Peoples Rights Clinic. She interned at the Supreme Judicial Court, the New England Innocence Project, and the United States Department of the Interior, Officer of the Solicitor. Jess graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk Law and magna cum laude from Northeastern. She is admitted to the Massachusetts bar. |
Barbara SchneiderHead Law Librarian,Berkshire Law Library
Barbara has worked for the Trial Court Law Libraries for 20 years. She has spent all of her adult life in rural Western Massachusetts, and now serves as Head Law Librarian in the Berkshire Law Library. Prior to her work in the library, she was an independent title examiner and a municipal tax assessor. Barbara has a graduate degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons University.

AJ BlechnerAJ Blechner is the Library’s Research Librarian and Library Instruction Coordinator. They coordinate and participate in teaching legal research, lead the design and development of instructional materials and assess our teaching and educational needs and offerings. AJ holds a B.A., cum laude, from Emerson College, a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, and an M.L.I.S. with a Special Certificate in Law Librarianship from the University of Washington. They also received a certificate in Learning Design and Technology from the Harvard Extension School. AJ’s research specialties include Disability Law, Gender and Sexual Minorities Law, Cyberlaw, Intellectual Property, Health Law, Administrative Law, Political Communication, and Instructional Design.

Amy BruceAmy Bruce is a legal information librarian and lecturer in law at Boston College Law School in Newton. She teaches advanced legal research and business law research for transactional practice. Previously, she was Senior Manager, Research Services at Goodwin Procter LLP. She is a graduate of Simmons University, Vermont Law School, and Bates College.

Brian FlahertyBrian Flaherty is the Instructional Service Librarian at the Boston University School of Law Library where he designs and coordinates the first-year legal research program and the LLM legal research program. He teaches advanced legal research and provides in-depth research assistance to students and faculty. He holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Tufts University and an M.L.S. from Simmons College.

Jenna FegreusJenna Fegreus is a reference librarian at Boston University School of Law, where she also teaches legal research classes. Prior to joining the Boston University staff, Jenna had experience working and interning at the Social Law Library, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Land Court, the Office of the Reporter of Decisions, and in former Governor Deval Patrick’s office, among others. She holds a BA from Providence College, a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, and a JD from Northeastern University School of Law. Jenna is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the Law Librarians of New England (LLNE), and the Association of Boston Law Librarians (ABLL), where she is currently serving as president.

Greg Ewing
Greg Ewing is a Legal Research Librarian at the Moakley Law Library, Suffolk University Law School. Greg was the Assistant Director for Faculty and Outreach Services & Reference Librarian at the Syracuse University College of Law Library (2000-2015). Greg also has experience working as a Court Librarian for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (Boise, Idaho) and the Oneida County Court Library (Utica NY). He co-taught Massachusetts Legal Research at Suffolk & Advanced Legal Research at Syracuse Law. He also taught Computer Assisted Legal Research to paralegal students in the Syracuse University Legal Assistant Program (2001-2012).

Elliott HibblerElliott specializes in scholarly communication, data services and legal research. He has taught classes in Advanced Legal and Interdisciplinary Research and an Introduction to Legal Research class for LLM students. He is also an adjunct professor at Simmons College's School of Library and Information Science, where he teaches Legal Information Sources. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Before coming to Northeastern, Elliott Hibbler served as the Faculty Services Librarian at Western New England University School of Law. He has a J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law and a Master of Science of Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He recently completed a graduate program in Data Science at Northeastern University. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Williams College.

Joan ShearJoan Shear is a Legal Information Librarian and Lecturer in Law at Boston College Law School where she regularly teaches upper level courses in Environmental Legal Research and Intellectual Property Research. While at BC Joan has also taught Advanced Legal Research and the research component of the first year required Legal Reasoning Research and Writing course. She serves as library liaison to the Boston College Law Review and the Boston College Intellectual Property and Technology Forum. Joan created an award-winning legal research course for the Law Librarians of New England and a course in Basic Legal Reference for the American Association of Law Librarians. Before coming to Boston College Joan was a Reference Librarian at Harvard Law School. After law school she worked for the U.S. Public Health Service while attending Library School and did a practicum in Legal Reference at the Library of Congress. Joan holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an MSLS from the Catholic University of America, and a B.A. from the University of Minnesota.

Patricia (Patty) JohansenMs. Johansen focuses on knowledge management and practice innovation to enable Goodwin’s Business Law lawyers deliver high value legal services to their clients. Ms. Johansen and her team are responsible for artificial intelligence and document automation technologies that enhance attorney workflows and processes. Ms. Johansen also directs a staff of professional support lawyers tasked to develop know how, monitor legal developments, and deliver practice tools. Prior to rejoining Goodwin in 2005, Ms. Johansen was a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, and prior to that, Senior Legal Counsel at Fidelity Investments. Ms. Johansen started her legal career at Goodwin as a corporate associate.

Suzanne HoeySuzanne discovered her love of law libraries as a work study student at Western New England University School of Law where she earned a JD. She continued on to spend a year as a law firm librarian and found her calling with the Trial Court Law Libraries. Suzanne started as Head Law Librarian at the Berkshire Law Library, spent 25 years at the Worcester Law Library and is now in Barnstable. Along the way, she earned her M.L.I.S. from the University of Rhode Island.

Helen VlachosHelen Vlachos is Manager of Research Services at Brown Rudnick LLP and holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from Harvard University and a Master's in Library and Information Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She has over 25 years of experience working in a law firm library environment. Along with a myriad of administrative tasks, day to day, she works on research projects for the attorneys in the US and UK offices. She is a former president of the Association of Boston Law Librarians and a current member of the following professional associations: American Association of Law Librarians; Association of Boston Law Librarians; British and Irish Association of Law Librarians; Private Law Librarians & Information Professionals (AALL-SIS).

Kathy has worked in the Trial Court Law Libraries for 14 years, heading the Franklin Law Library in Greenfield for the last 6 years. She earned her J.D. at Western New England University School of Law, then went on to clerk for the New York State Appellate Division, Fourth Department, and the Massachusetts Superior Court. During her employment at the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office and Mental Hygiene Legal Unit in Rochester, N.Y., and her private practices in New York and Massachusetts, she focused on mental health commitments and criminal appeals.
